Before registering for your Summer Orientation, please read the following safety measures required of all Ripon College campus guests. This information is subject to change depending on the current health situation. | COVID-19 Information:
If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, or are feeling ill in general, we ask you do not attend Summer Orientation and request information about a back-up virtual orientation opportunity. Students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 OR receive a waiver/negative COVID-19 test before attending Summer Orientation. More information is shared below.
As we monitor the current health situation, the Ripon College Summer Orientation Committee may cancel or restrict Summer Orientation for the health and well-being of our student volunteers, faculty, staff, and guests. We thank you for your understanding and flexibility when this occurs. If an in-person orientation is cancelled, we will provide a back-up virtual opportunity.
Masking Requirement:
All students, faculty, staff, and Summer Orientation guests are required to wear a mask while indoors and in public areas (lounges, classrooms, hallways, residence halls, etc). This is a non-negotiable requirement for all Summer Orientation participants, students, and family guests.
If you or your guests do not wear a mask, you will be asked to leave campus and will not be refunded your Summer Orientation fees. | First Year Student Information and Summer Orientation Overnight Policy:
Summer Orientation is a mandatory experience for all incoming first year students. Students must register to attend this event. The cost for a student to attend Summer Orientation is $75. The $75 fee includes: three meals, program materials/documents, entertainment, snacks and refreshments, and an overnight stay in residence hall room.
While students are on campus for Summer Orientation they will be required to stay overnight in the residence halls with a student roommate for orientation.
As an student guest/enrolled student, Ripon College requires that you assume the same responsibility for your actions and behavior that current Ripon students have assumed. When you sign up for Summer Orientation, you will be required to indicate that you understand and agree to the statement below. If you do not understand the statement or how it applies to you, please contact the Office of Admission at 920-748-8709 or adminfo@ripon.edu.
- I am aware that although Ripon College has agreed to host me for Summer Orientation, neither the Office of Student Life nor any other office or personnel of Ripon will be supervising me during specific hours of my stay on campus. Student guests/enrolled students are responsible for their behavior and are expected to behave as adults within the expectations described below.
- I am aware that Summer Orientation participants are required to abide by Federal and State laws, local municipal codes and the policies governing student conduct that all students enrolled at Ripon College are expected to follow.
- I acknowledge that Wisconsin law prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons under the age of 21 years, as well as the use of controlled substances. Failure to follow these guidelines could result in the notification of campus security, parents or guardians, and the Ripon Police Department.
| Parent and Guest Information:
A student can bring up to two immediate family guests/guardians to Summer Orientation. Non-immediate family guests such as friends or significant others are ineligible to attend Summer Orientation. You are not allowed to bring pets to orientation. We do request if you need to bring more than two family members you contact us at 920-748-8709 as soon as possible.
The cost for a family guest/guardian to attend is $40 per person if they choose to stay on campus or $30 if they choose to stay off-campus. The $40 includes: three meals, program materials, entertainment, snacks and refreshments, and an overnight stay in a residence hall room.
Students and family members will not be housed together during this event. We believe it is important for incoming students to have an opportunity to bond with the members of their class during orientation. Parents/guardians will be housed in a separate residence hall and have special parent/guardian activities to participate in.
If you are not planning to stay on campus, we recommend all family guests stay at the Cobblestone Suites in Ripon. Let the Cobblestone Suites know you're visiting Ripon College and they will give you a discount. | If you have any questions about these requirements or policies, please contact Sara VanSteenbergen, our Director of Student Activities and Orientation, at vansteenbergens@ripon.edu. |
