Please read the following statements:
  • Loan Entrance Counseling (LEC) and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) need to be completed only if you are accepting any Federal Loans.
  • Inform our office of any additional aid that was not listed on your Financial Aid Offer (i.e., VA benefits, scholarships from your high school, community organizations, etc.).

+ General Instructions to start your LEC:
Information you (the student) will need before starting your LEC:
  • Your social security number
  • Your FSA ID (also used for the FAFSA) this will be used to login and to sign your MPN
  • Your driver’s license number
  • Two references with different addresses and contact information including name, address, telephone number and email address
It is critical that the student complete their own LEC as THE STUDENT is taking out these federal loans and it is important THE STUDENT understand what they are agreeing to upon completing these financial documents.
+ Federal Direct Student Loans – Loan Entrance Counseling (LEC)
All incoming Ripon College students, who intend to borrow a federal direct student loan, must complete “Loan Entrance Counseling.” Having a copy of your financial aid offer will assist you. You can also refer to the myRipon portal to view your Financial Aid.

The Loan Entrance Counseling process takes about 15 minutes to complete online.
To complete the process:
Required for STUDENTS to complete:
  • Go to studentaid.gov and login using your FSA ID (what you use to login to your FAFSA).
  • Choose the drop-down option labeled Loans and Grants and Select ‘Loan Entrance Counseling’.
  • Be sure to select the counseling for Undergraduate Student.
  • Select your Schools: Choose WI, then Ripon College, and click on “Notify this School” so we receive the notification that you have completed this process.
  • Select Student Type: Undergraduate student.
  • Complete all required sections and then submit.
